As Vogue India’s Editor-at-Large for 13 years, Bandana Tewari sat front row to a rapidly evolving industry and reported extensively about the global fashion industry. Coupled with her unrestrained and fiercely independent voice, understanding of socio-political dynamics of fashion and trademark forward-thinking, she is considered one of India’s foremost authorities on fashion.
Member of the BoF500 (2016-2017), a professional index of the people shaping the global fashion industry, and contributor for the The Business of Fashion, she has written extensively on a variety of topics from indigenous ‘made-by-hand’ economies of India and Indonesia, to transgender and LGBTQ representation in global fashion, informing and educating consumers and global luxury brands about each other’s heritage and culture.
Tewari’s pieces have appeared in well-regarded publications such as The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, US and UK Vogue, Wallpaper* and Tank, in addition to several leading Indian journals — Mint Lounge, Platformand Take. She has scripted and hosted 50 episodes of ‘Simply Style’, India’s first primetime TV show on fashion and hosted two seasons of the first fashion webisodes in India. Furthermore, her speaking engagements on a range of topics including sustainability and mindfulness in fashion takes her all over the world. Tewari sits on the advisory boards of NEST and Eco Chic Design Awards, is Special Advisor to Copenhagen Fashion Summit. She is member of the expert panel of H&M Foundation’s Global Change Award 2018. She was an Advisory Committee member for MoMA’s exhibition in 2017 titled “Is Fashion Modern”.
