Kirsten Brodde
Campaign Leader | Greenpeace
Kirsten Brodde is leading Greenpeace´s global Detox my fashion campaign. She studied Medicine, German Literature and Linguistics and received her PhD in Journalism from Hamburg University.
Since 2011 the Detox campaign has secured 78 global commitments from well-known brands, retailers and suppliers to ban all hazardous chemicals from their supply chain. The shift towards taking responsibility for their production instead of just focusing on finished products was a major paradigm shift for the fashion industry triggered by the Detox campaign.
Prior to joining Greenpeace, Brodde worked as science journalist and published author. In 2009 she published a book about eco fashion, and in 2010 a second book about modern campaigning hit stores. She is also a well-known watchdog for consumer issues, especially the greening of the textile industry and part of the eco fashion movement in Germany.
From 2011 to 2015 Brodde has also been a member of the jury for the Federal Ecodesign Award in Germany.
