Peter Copping

Independent Fashion Professional

Peter Copping was born and raised in Oxford. Encouraged by his parents he studied fashion design at the prestigious St Martins School and the Royal College of Art in London. Upon graduating from the Royal College, Copping travelled to Paris to continue interning at Christian Lacroix Haute Couture which he had already commenced during his studies. Following this, Copping spent a short period working for the Italian company Iceberg. Eager to return to Paris, he happily accepted a design position in Sonia Rykiel’s studio where he was to stay for the next 3 years. Copping was enticed away from Rykiel by Marc Jacobs to become a member of his first Ready-to-Wear team at Louis Vuitton. He remained there for 12 years and became the Women’s Design Director under Jacobs leadership. In 2009 Copping moved from Vuitton to Nina Ricci where he acted as Creative Director for 5 years.

Copping has just returned to Europe after working for a 2-year period in New York as Creative Director of Oscar de la Renta. He is currently considering his next steps within the fashion industry. Copping is equally passionate about interiors as he is for fashion and has recently become a Contributing Editor for U.S Architectural Digest.
